2 questions asked at 2024 CBA hybrid AGM

October 16, 2024

Below is the text of the 2 written questions submitted at the 2024 CBA hybrid AGM held on October 16 in Adelaide, plus a summary of the answers and some video grabs via Twitter. The meeting lasted 2 hours and 27 minutes and there were no material protest votes.

Q1. Why are you using Viostream for the video broadcast of this AGM to those not in Adelaide, rather than your share registry provider Link, which is being used for the online questions. And please bring back online voting next year. If paying Link for the online questions function, why turn off their voting function? How much money have we saved by banning your 800,000 shareholders from being able to vote online after listening to today's debate?

Answer: The chair Paul O'Malley didn't really provide any insight. Watch video of exchange via Twitter.

Q2. Did any of the 5 main proxy advisers - ACSI, Ownership Matters, Glass Lewis, ISS and ASA - recommend a vote against any of today's resolutions, including on Julie Galbo's re-election ? If so, what reasons did they give? Also, best practice is now to disclose the proxy position to the ASX along with the formal addresses to offer more timely disclosure to the market? The likes of Origin Energy, NAB, Carsales, Viva Energy, Webjet, Xero, Myer, Brambles and JB Hi Fi all do this. Will you adopt this practice at next year's AGM?

Answer: The chair Paul O'Malley made no promises on the early voting disclosure and completely ignored the proxy adviser element of the question. Watch video of exchange via Twitter.
